As I glanced over at my little 10 year-old poodle relaxing on her bed, I realized she would be a perfect example of how the color black can appear almost white in intense sunlight. By the way, I did not use black on my palette, but made varying shades of darks with mixtures of thalo green + alizarin, and ultra blue + alizarin and a touch of cad red or cad yellow.

Nice painting of your Zippy Lou. Was there one thing that Kevin had to remind the students about? Was there a common flaw they were missing? I've never heard of anyone taking his workshops.
how interesting about how the light plays on the color. also interesting that you didn't use black in the painting. very interesting. coulda fooled me. lovely paining of Zippy Lou (love the name).

I definitely would say there was not a common flaw. We all had individual issues to work on, which is what makes the workshop experience so valuable. I always feel that I learn so much from the other students, as well as the instructor.

Oh my God! That's terrible! It looks EXACTLY like her. And she's about to bark. At me. A lot.
PS - I can see you skipped Gary Larson's workshop. You forgot to write "CAT FUD, CAT FUD, CAT FUD" at the bottom.
Zippy Lou looks so adorable! Great job, love the "black" that really isn't black. I can hear her barking now. . .
