starry, starry night

8 x 10, oil on canvas

When was the last time you stepped outside and gazed skyward?
 On a clear night, it is the best show in town - far better than anything on TV.
If you ever feel the world has lost its magic,
or you haven't experienced enough jaw dropping awe;
grab your coat and hat, a cup of hot chocolate,
and step outside for a little star gazing.
Dancing is optional.

And if your sky is cloudy? Take a look at some of the grand images from NASA here. Appearing as gorgeous abstract art, the image gallery features constellations, cloud vortices, spiral galaxies, supernovas, and helix nebulas...just to name a few. Inspiration at its best. Happy New Everything.

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness.
I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful!
 And don't forget to make some art-
write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.
 And I hope, somewhere in the next year,
you surprise yourself."
-Neil Gaiman

Happy New year, Faye. I wish you could have gone walking with me yesterday. The conditions for snowflakes must have been perfect. Some flakes were almost a half-inch across. I have never seen them that large. amazing!

I like Neil Gaiman books too! Haven't read one in a long time though, does he have anything new out that I should look at?
That would be perfect this month! I love your holiday paintings, they have so much richness and life. Speaking of stargazing, did you see the full moon last night?
